4:27 And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, ¹  yet ²  none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.” ³ 

Lukas 5:13

5:13 So ⁴  he stretched out his hand and touched ⁵  him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.

[4:27]  ² tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “yet” to indicate the contrast.

[4:27]  ³ sn The reference to Naaman the Syrian (see 2 Kgs 5:1-24) is another example where an outsider and Gentile was blessed. The stress in the example is the missed opportunity of the people to experience God’s work, but it will still go on without them.

[5:13]  ⁴ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “so” to indicate the response of Jesus to the man’s request.

[5:13]  ⁵ sn Touched. This touch would have rendered Jesus ceremonially unclean (Lev 14:46; also Mishnah, m. Nega’im 3.1; 11.1; 12.1; 13.6-12).
